Donald Trump stood up in Myrtle Beach on Friday and said the quiet part out loud. The part the whole swamp already knows but won’t say on camera.
“If we lose the midterms, I am going to be impeached.” That’s a direct quote. Not a paraphrase. Not a leak from some anonymous staffer. The President of the United States, at a rally in South Carolina, telling his people exactly what happens if they stay home in November.
And he’s right. You don’t need a decoder ring for this one. The Democrats have been salivating over a third impeachment since the moment the second one fizzled. They don’t have a reason. They’ve never needed one. The first time it was a phone call. The second time it was a speech. You think the third time they’ll bother with even that much pretense? Trump said it himself: “They’re going to impeach me. They have no idea why.” That’s not a joke. That’s the whole playbook. Find the man, pick the charge, work backward.
Shealeah Craighead (Public domain) via Wikimedia CommonsHere’s what the talking heads on CNN won’t tell you. The Democrats don’t need a crime. They need a majority. Article II gives the House the sole power of impeachment, and the House needs a simple majority to send it to the Senate. That’s it. No judge, no standard of evidence, no cross-examination. Nancy Pelosi’s crew proved that twice already. The only thing that stopped them was the Senate, and even that was a party-line exercise with a handful of Republicans who couldn’t wait to get back to their donor dinners.
So Trump goes to Myrtle Beach and tells people to “pretend I’m on the ballot.” Because he effectively is. Every House seat is up. A third of the Senate. If the Democrats flip the House, they subpoena everything. They investigate everything. They impeach. Not because of anything Trump did. Because they can. Because that’s what the machine does when it doesn’t get its way at the ballot box.
And look at what they’re running against. Rising prices. An Iran military campaign that nobody voted for and nobody can explain. Approval numbers sliding. You think that’s an accident? You think the timing is a coincidence? The establishment has been engineering exactly this scenario since January. Run up inflation, start a war nobody asked for, tank the numbers, then hand the whole mess to the Democrats to finish the job. The same Democrats Trump called “lunatics” and “vicious, violent.” His words, not mine. But you tell me. When was the last time you saw a Democratic politician denounce the people firebombing Tesla dealerships or blocking highways? They don’t. They fundraise off it.
Bernard Gagnon (CC BY-SA 4.0) via Wikimedia CommonsTrump was down there stumping for Darline Graham, who got handed Lindsey Graham’s old Senate seat after Lindsey died. She’s in a runoff on August 25 against Ralph Norman. She told a debate audience that national security wasn’t her strong suit. The press jumped on it like she’d confessed to a felony. Trump called it honesty. Imagine that. A politician who admits what she doesn’t know instead of pretending she knows everything. The experts hate that. Can’t control someone who doesn’t play the game.
Here’s the bottom line, and you can take this to the bank. The midterms are not about policy. They’re not about tax cuts or the border or any of the things Trump listed off in that speech. Those matter, sure. But the real question on the ballot in November is whether one man gets to finish what the voters sent him to do, or whether the swamp finally drags him under for good. Trump knows it. The Democrats know it. The only people who pretend not to know it are the ones counting on you to stay home.
Don’t.
